It's Coming by LindaButterfly

It's coming!

It's coming! It's in the early morning air! The spiders know it, the blackbird knows it and I know it. The trees have not turned yet but the early signs are there. There's a feeling in the air heralding Autumn. It's the start of the season of "mists and mellow fruitfulness" as shown by this print of my watercolor made into a greetings card.
Such beautiful words from Keats about my favorite season.

JOHN KEATS - TO AUTUMN

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run; To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees, And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, And still more, later flowers for the bees, Until they think warm days will never cease, For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

The card above depicts the glorious two-faced aspect of Autumn; mists and falling leaves.

A photo card, "Burnished Leaves" captures the joyful colors of Autumn.

Soon the mellow weather will turn to ground frosts. Here's a beautiful photo card showing the first frost of the year in 2009.

All my cards are professionally printed by Moo and use my own art; watercolor, photos & acrylic.
